FRANZ FUCHSBERGER
was born and raised in a small town called Tamsweg, which is located in the Province of Salzburg in Austria. Franz started skiing at the age of 6 in the rolling hills of his family's farm.

Having no real interest in the maintenance and upkeep of the family farm, Franz decided to pursue working in the local ski resorts in Austria. This is where he realized that the world of skiing could open new doors for him with a chance of lifetime opportunities.

After successfully completing his ski instructors exam for full certification at the Sports Government Institute in St. Christoph, Austria, Franz decided to discover the skiing in America. Only knowing a few words of English, he landed his first US skiing job at Boyne Mountain, Michigan for the 83-84 season.

Franz then moved on to Big Sky, Montana and worked there for three years. This is where he was introduced to the sport of Powder 8 skiing by Hans Schernthaner, a fellow ski instructor, good friend and first Powder 8 partner. Now they compete against each other at Powder 8 worldwide.

In 1987, Franz decided to make a move to Vail, Colorado, and has been there ever since. During Vail's summer season, he taught in Australia for 6 seasons in Guthega and Perisher Valley. He then tried the South American scene for two seasons. Franz taught at Chapelco in San Martin de los Andes in Argentina, and is quite competent in the Spanish language.

Franz is recognized in the local racing arena in the Vail Valley and his skiing accomplishments encompass many areas of the sport. Here are just a few honorable mentions out of his many:

During his visit to Austria Franz received the GOLDEN Honorary Medal from Mayor and City Hall Representatives of Tamsweg in the province of Salzburg. Standing by with Franz are friends and Family members. This recognition is handed out only with special performances in Sport -- there Franz goes again -- THE KING OF POWDER hasn't been forgotten in his home town TAMSWEG.

Now you know the SECRETS to his success. A daily work out in the SchneiderRacingUSA office on the PLYOMETRIC Power machine from SKIERS EDGE - thats it!

Franz was the trend setter amongst the World Powder 8 competitors in promoting the sport and his personal achievements with his own Web Site: www.powder8.com
